MUD FLOWER BLOOMING portrays the life journey of Jewelle, the heroine in this event-filled saga.
In her voice, the changes in her life are unveiled while childhood memories, mysteries, and magical experiences lurk ever-present beneath her words. As she chronicles her trek from South Florida to South Dakota, life lessons bearing moments of joy and suffering are graphically portrayed.
She is confronted with a series of transformative encounters, sparked by varied forms of love in various forms, resolute faith, and a host of life issues including aging, late-life coupling, violence, colorism, secrets, and family conflicts. Parental failure is a persistent hurdle for Jewelle as she struggles with life’s mishaps, and their effects on her Adult offspring, while walking a tightrope in guiding her grandchildren. Ultimately Jewelle calls the reader to join her on a life-changing expedition. Author’s Notes
MUD FLOWER BLOOMING is a work of fiction inspired by real-life moments. It seems that I have carried the seeds for a book like this within me from the time I was a little girl. I thoroughly enjoy peeking behind circumstances, looking for the rest of the story or conjuring possibilities for what the story and the story behind the story could or should be. |
