This I know For Sure Some years ago, my husband and I were flying to Barbados. In-flight, the pilot announced, “We are in a severe storm, rain, lighting, and turbulence. Fasten your seat belts. This will be a rough, uncomfortable flight. The only way to get through it is to fly above the storm. There was a drop of pressure in the cabin, making the plane descend before we can ascend. I was in the middle seat, and my husband had the window view; an older lady from Barbados had the aisle seat. The lady held my hand tightly and said, “We will make it! I travel these skies five times a year for many years. The pilots are trained to fly, and I am trained to pray.” |
My husband was very quiet with his head bowed. When we landed, I said, “Honey, were you asleep? Weren’t you afraid?” You didn’t hold my hand. He calmly replied, “Baby, I grabbed God’s hand, and he landed us safely.’ I learned so many enduring lessons on that flight. Winter requires ethical people around us and acts of kindness given to us. Age teaches patience, caution, and wisdom; to talk less and listen more. Speech may be great, but many times silence is greater. It is wise never to tell all you know at one given time, and then be sure that you know all you tell.
In this season, one can also be easily swayed in the wrong direction. Because of loneliness, illnesses, and loss, they may be looking for recognition and friendship in the wrong place with the wrong people.
Positioned

Lord. I come before your throne of mercy; bowed in humble submission, positioned to worship. Lord, I come to be positioned in a place that you and you alone have selected.
Now, my heart is positioned to give you me in spirit and truth. This place where the twenty and four elders (who are they - spiritual reference) cast crowns, cherubim, and seraphim cry words that signify your holiness. I beseech you, bring me to that place. The place where your presence is so overwhelmingly powerful. I bow in humble submission.
As I imagine, let me no longer see the picture painted by the enemy's hand. Let me profess and confess that you and you alone are sovereign.
I come to the place which is your throne of mercy. I rush with great anticipation. Like a bride who longs for her husband, everything trembles, erupting over and over again, never getting enough, desiring more as I worship you in the Spirit of Holiness I will attend to the voices of angels as they praise. Allow me to see the LIght of your existence and the extension of your grace and mercy.
